The trio Gavgav was founded in 2021 based on a concept by Anne-Marie Herda.

In the unusual line-up of vocals (Anne-Marie Herda), accordion (Mihail Cunetchi), and electric guitar (Fridolin Krön), the ensemble has since set Herda's compositions to music, combining radical lyrics with advanced song forms. Gavgav's music oscillates between gentle melancholy and programmatic abstraction—and manages to transform these opposites into aesthetically bold and at the same time deeply moving sounds. Following initial studio recordings in 2022, numerous concerts and a tour followed in 2023.

In the summer of 2024, Max Arsava expanded the trio to include electronics, bringing new sounds to the formation.

In 2025, Gavgav performed at the renowned 50th Ilmenau Jazz Days and released his debut album “Bodies,” which has since been available on all major platforms.
